Homework!
Tonight, draw a preliminary outline of how you want the layout of your page to look. You do not have to have any actual content, colors, fonts, or pictures. Just mark up a piece of paper with an idea of how you want your page to look. See the figure below for an example.
Day 2 - Project Content and CSS Introduction
- Campers will begin the day by gathering and adding the content for their project. Mr. Sauer and Connor will help them organize their content in VS Code.
- We will begin discussing Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). We will learn how to style web content and go over the various rules and properties that can be assigned to content to create a great-looking page.
Day 3 - CSS Continued and Project Styling
- We will continue learning about CSS.
- Campers will begin using CSS to style their pages. Mr. Sauer and Connor will help them style their pages.
Day 4 - Project Post Mortem and Wrap-up
- Campers will put the finishing touches on their pages.
- Time permitting, we will conduct a post mortem for each camper's page, which means that we will review each page as a class and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each design. Campers are expected to be courteous and present feedback in a positive manner.
- Time permitting, we will learn how to add interactivity to our pages using JavaScript.
Project
- Campers will design a web page that contains information about a person. The person can be fictional, like a character from a book, movie, or game, or a real person.
- Topics must be appropriate for this camp. No adult, offensive, or "charged" content will be permitted.
- Each page should include at least three images but may include more at the camper's discretion.
Project Example Topics
Campers can choose almost any topic they want as the basis for their project, pending approval from Mr. Sauer. Some examples of topics that would meet the guidelines are:
